Ukulele & Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Master
Peter Moon was born on Aug 25, 1944 on the island of Oahu. He was introduced to Hawaiian music at a young age. Moon played as a Maile Serenader with Gabby “Pops” Pahinui in the early 1960s.
In the late 60s Moon founded The Sunday Manoa, a group made up of himself, Palani Vaughn, Alfred Kalima, and Cyril Pahinui. Bla Pahinui joined the group when Palani Vaughn and Cyril Pahinui left.
A major overhaul in 1969, Moon, the only original member revamped The Sunday Manoa by recruiting the very young Robert and Roland Cazimero. The Sunday Manoa played together until breaking up in mid 70s.
In 1979 Moon introduced The Peter Moon Band which produced Hawaiian music until the late 90s. Peter Moon was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
